You will discover the subtleties that distinguish these two agave-based spirits: on one hand, tequila, exclusively made from blue Weber agave, steam-cooked according to precise and regulated methods; on the other hand, mezcal, born from the cooking of piñas in underground earthen ovens, imparting the smoky and wild character that makes it so unique. You will thus understand how each decision—the agave variety, the terroir, the production method—shapes radically different aromas.
Accompanied by experts, you will explore the main aromatic families of these two spirits and the flavors to look for during tasting. Whether you are a novice or a connoisseur, you will be guided in developing your own tasting profile, from the floral and fruity notes of tequila to the smoky, spicy, and mineral flavors of mezcal.
As a true apprentice maestro, you will taste 10 exceptional expressions and embark on a journey through the world of agave—blancos, reposados, añejos, different agave varieties, different regions—to create your own blend.
